A 10-year-old letter about the city's rubbish collection being dropped in people's letterboxes is being called a 'load of rubbish”.
Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin says their Solid Waste team have had a couple of reports from people in Papamoa who have received the letter in the last two weeks.
People are being told to ignore this letter.
'We haven't had a lot of reports, but enough to suggest that someone has been disingenuous with a handful old flyers they've somehow obtained.
'We don't know the scale of it, or where the old flyers came from, nor why anyone would think posting them in random letterboxes would be a good idea.”
Marcel says one of the flyers was presented to council yesterday by a resident who came into the office to query it.
'This resident had recently moved here from out of town and found that the bags and prices on offer at the supermarket differed to the information on the flyer that she reasonably assumed had been helpfully delivered to her letterbox.”
