Work to install a new combined pedestrian and cycle facility on Girven Road is due to start this week.
Tauranga City Council advises work will take place between Gloucester Road and Maranui.
This from Tauranga City Council's weekly bulletin:
- Otumoetai Road/Ngatai Road roundabout – resurfacing of the roundabout is due to begin on Wednesday 23 April and will be completed Sunday 27 April. Speed restrictions and detours will be in place.
- Tauranga Eastern Link / State Highway 2 - recent wet weather has delayed the scheduled traffic switch onto the new eastbound lanes, between Mangatawa and Domain Road. The traffic switch and associated changes at the Kairua Road and State Highway 2 (SH2) intersection, which becomes a permanent left-in and left-out only intersection, will now take place later in April, after Anzac Day.
Ongoing work
- Fourth Avenue – work to install parking bays between Cameron Road, Devonport Road and the eastern end of Fourth Avenue continues.
- Maranui Street/Sandhurst Drive - speed restrictions are in place while work to construct the new roundabout is underway.
- Welcome Bay Road - widening and reconstruction work is continuing between Ranginui Road and the city boundary (near the hot pools).
- Welcome Bay Road (west of James Cook Drive) – installation of pedestrian refuge island underway.
- Streetlight upgrade - new street lights are being installed along Papamoa Beach Road from north of Pacific View Road to Coast Boulevard.
