Tauranga City Council's first on-location Community Development Committee meeting is at Papamoa next Tuesday.
The meeting begins 6.30pm next Tuesday at Papamoa Community Centre, with residents encouraged to bring their ideas for their community's future to elected members.
TCC councillor Steve Morris talks with David Hill, a Papamoa resident and manager of the Papamoa Beach Plaza and chairman of the Papamoa Progressive Association.
Last October, TCC established the Community Development Committee with the purpose of encouraging discussion on opportunities and issues affecting Tauranga communities.
Every second meeting will be held at a different city location, to focus on matters specific to the chosen community.
TCC councillor and Community Development Committee chair Steve Morris says he's excited about the opportunity to connect with residents outside Council Chambers.
'What we are trying to do is to make it easier for people to engage with council and tell us what they want for their community in the future,” says Steve.
'The meetings also offer people the chance to talk with their elected members in a less formal environment”.
Topics up for discussion at Papamoa include those relevant to the area, such as Papamoa growth areas, tsunami evacuation routes and roading.
The evening starts 6.30pm, with opportunity to chat to elected members over tea and coffee. The formal meeting begins 7pm.
The meeting's venue is Papamoa Community Centre, 15 Gravatt Rd, Papamoa.
