Representatives are being sought for the Stakeholders Working Group as part of the Proposed Cathedral Cove walk and the Coromandel Great Walks project.

The Thames Coromandel District Council says all nominations need to be received by 12pm on Thursday, December 5, in order to arrange afirst meeting pre-Christmas.

The working group will consist of representatives from organisations and groups to help provide input and feedback around the walks project and the wider issues around parking in Hahei.

It will be selected by the Project Governance Group which is made up of Thames Coromandel District Council elected members and staff, Department of Conservation staff and iwi.

Representatives will meet with TCDC project manager Gary Towler, Mercury Bay area manager Len Whittaker and Department of Conservation John Gaukrodger.

Last Saturday a public meeting was held the Hahei Community Hall to provide an update and to discuss the project.

It was also established the working group needed representation in the following categories:

• Pa Rd Residents – one representative
• Lees Rd Residents – one representative
• Hahei Business Association – one representative
• Hahei Beach Residents and Ratepayers Association – two representatives
• Coastal Walkways – one representative
• Hahei Reserves Group – one representative
• Grange Rd residents – one representative

At this meeting nominations were received from Helen Walters and Cathie Bakely (Pa Rd), Richard Agnew (Hahei Business), Brian Keucke (Hahei Beach), and Karen Blair (Hahei Reserves Group)

If there are additional nominations, or you wish to nominate yourself or another group, then please contact TCDC as soon as possible.

Representatives will be finalised by Friday, December 6, and council will email everyone with the final names of the Working Group early next week and circulate a proposed agenda for the meeting.
