Tauranga resident John Cronin is returned as the Bay of Plenty Regional Council chairman after the council's first meeting in Whakatane.

Philip Sherry was re-elected as deputy chairman.
The council has three new councillors – Douglas Owens and Paula Thompson representing Tauranga, and Lyall Thurston representing Rotorua. The 10 other councillors were returned for another term in the local government elections on October 9.

Its a bloody council not a 1 man band, Enuf with the " your intiatives". By the way.Why are EBOP knocking down the Beach Street Building ????anyone wanta guess what its is to be ??
