Tauranga City Council is advising people who live between 4th Avenue and 7th Avenue of proposed works to be conducted along Takitimu Drive and the disruption this may cause.
A letter is being sent to affected properties this week. It advises of enhancement work along the vegetation strip that runs along Takitimu Drive.
Takitimu Drive is to be the scene of a revegetation programme.
The enhancement works are aimed at improving the quality and longevity of the revegetation that is currently planted.
This information from Tauranga City Council weekly bulletin for the week beginning Monday, October 25, published below.
City Waters
Water Supply
- The annual Water Mains flushing programme is currently underway in Papamoa and Mount Maunganui areas.
- Inspections and maintenance are being carried out on the Cambridge Road and Kaitemako Road Reservoirs.
- City Waters staff are keeping a close eye on reservoir levels due to seasonal increases in water usage.
Drainage
- Contractors are on standby this month for weather conditions that will allow them to do pressure testing of the treated wastewater outfall pipeline at Omanu. Once work starts people may notice some activity on the beach and coast off Sunrise Avenue. Divers will be checking the condition of the pipeline and testing it by pumping greenish-yellow dye through the pipe. The dye is non-toxic but may be visible over a large area of water around 1km offshore.
Bulk Water Meter and Pressure Management Project
- A project to install additional bulk metering and pressure management will start this month in Birch Avenue and 12th Avenue. This will regulate pressures in the area and also improve the water supply zoning in this area.
Southern Pipeline
- Maleme Street and Memorial Park Pipeline – Pot holing works to locate existing services have started. This is minor work.
- Pipe laying will start soon in Maleme Street, heading up Oropi Road towards Chadwick Road. Expected to take around three months to complete this, the first section of the pipeline.
- Construction of the Indoor Sports Centre is progressing well. There are three areas under construction: the central core, the three court area and the six court area. You can view the timelapse and webcam online at http://www.tauranga.govt.nz/council-projects/indoor-sports-exhibition-centre/webcam.aspx
Parks and Leisure
- Humpty Dumpty, sitting at Memorial Park for around 50 years, is due to be painted next week, Wednesday or Thursday weather depending.
- New concrete paths are being installed at Liston Park and Keame Reserve to provide better pedestrian access into the reserve.
- TCC Parks/CityCare are jointly funding a project at Waitaha Reserve (Welcome Bay) investigating whether removal of graffiti is more cost effective and sustainable than painting.
- Arborcare will be initiating crown reduction works on a large Moreton Bay Fig (Ficus macrophylla) in Wharepai Domain for the purpose of Hazard abatement.
