If you do not want agrichemicals sprayed directly outside your property then sign up for the Thames-Coromandel District Council's ‘no-spray register'.
Contractors working for council periodically spray road verges and other council-owned land as part of vegetation management, but properties listed on the register will avoid this.

But locals on the register need to maintain vegetation on berms themselves, up to and including the kerb for the width of their property's road frontage, including eradicating invasive weeds.
If vegetation is not controlled by the property owner or occupier and causes problems, council may arrange for this work to be carried out without further notice.
This work may involve spraying herbicides.
'Weeds growing on the road carriageway will be treated by herbicides,” says council. 'Any residents who have asked to be notified before any spraying outside their property or in the vicinity will be contacted.
'If you've just moved into a property that is on the register, you can also have your property removed from the register. If you're moving or your details change, let us know.”
To register your property you can call council's Customer Service team who will take your details which includes your name, contact details and the property's address.
The Customer Service team will then create a Request For Service which is sent to Opus International Consultants Ltd, which maintains the no-spray register.
Opus will then update the register and distribute it to all affected contractors.
To list your property on the ‘No-Spray Register' call Thames-Coromandel District Council's Customer Service team on 07-868-0200.
