LTP submissions close this Thursday

If you want to make a submission on the Thames-Coromandel District Council's Draft Long Term Plan then you must do so before 4pm tomorrow.

The LTP consultation document, which is less than 40 pages and is easy to read and understand, lays out council's priorities and where it plans to spend money over the next decade.

Proposals included in the document are based on assumptions about the future of the local economy, the district, and the services delivered by council.

Proposals under ‘Local economy' focuses on likely growth rates, inflation and interest rates; ‘District' focuses on population changes and land use changes; and 'Services' includes when the renewing of assets is required plus impact from recent legislation.

'All these factors affect our financial situation and the rates that you pay,” says council. 'So, why not take a look at the consultation document here and give us your feedback?

'It's great if you can make a submission if you agree or disagree on anything we're proposing. It helps our council make a better, more informed decision if you are for or against anything signalled in the LTP.”

Council adds that it is also consulting on revised versions of the three policies: Rates Remission, Revenue and Financing, and Development Contributions.

'You can submit on these three policies as part of your submission to the LTP consultation document.

'But the individual policies have extra questions so we recommend treating any of these three separately.”

When making submissions it is not necessary to answer every question, all locals need to do is submit on the points they are passionate about.
