Te Puke’s water pressure drop

Te Puke residents can expect to experience low water pressure while contractors work on a bulk water main overnight early next week.

The work will take place from 9pm on Tuesday, April 21 and is expected to be completed by 3am on Wednesday, 22 April.

It involves joining a new section of pipeline to an existing section on the main feed into the Te Puke township.

Western Bay of Plenty District Council advises residents that water pressure will drop during this time, and in some instances, there may be a complete loss of water pressure.

Council's utilities manager Kelvin Hill says the work is a necessary part of maintaining Te Puke's water supply system and is taking place overnight to minimise inconvenience.

He advises people to get as many water-related activities as possible out of the way before 9pm on Tuesday to avoid being caught out when the project begins.

Council is working with businesses, such as packhouses, to ensure they are prepared for the predicted drop in water pressure.

Residents will be advised through various communication channels, including electronic signboards placed at each end of Te Puke, in the days prior to the work taking place.

Anyone with questions about the project should contact council's customer service centre on: 07 571 8008.
