Six tenders for TISEC

Six construction companies are bidding for the contract to build the new multi-million dollar Indoor Sport and Exhibition Centre at Baypark.
Tauranga City Council's project manager Howard Severinsen says it was too early to make any definitive statements on the tenders received, but the initial impression was that the tender process had been very competitive.

The tenders will now be assessed and a period of clarification and negotiation will take place before a final tender is expected to be awarded in mid to late November.
The Tauranga Indoor Sport and Exhibition Centre will be a new nine court indoor sports centre situated beside the outdoor stadium at Baypark, Mount Maunganui.
It is hoped the centre will become a hub for community sport and entertainment in the greater Western Bay of Plenty.
It will cater primarily for community sport, then exhibitions and other functions such as sports events, awards and corporate events.
The centre includes a stage area, has seating for 3000 people, meeting rooms, a kitchen and other amenities.
