Tauranga City Councillor Hayden Evans' ongoing fight over a pipeline easement with city hall continues behind locked doors in the Kaimai Room today.
The hearing is about the city council's intention to seize a pipeline easement across Hayden's land using section 181 of the Local Government Act.

The dispute began before Hayden, a civil engineer, was elected to council. It remained unresolved and finally went to arbitration earlier this year. The arbitrated agreement was that Hayden be paid about $13,000 to supervise the work on the pipeline across his land.
Councillors rejected that, putting the argument back to square one. It is now trying to seize the easement in a process that Hayden says has already cost the council far more than the $13,000 councillors originally balked at paying.
