Motorists are advised to plan their journey before heading out in the Bay of Plenty during the annual AIMS Games next month.
'With more than 10,000 competitors and supporters in Tauranga for AIMS Games, please allow extra time while traveling as there will be an increase in traffic during the day, particularly before and after school hours on roads leading to the city's large sports grounds,” says the NZTA.
'We would also like to remind visitors to the city that there is a 50km/h temporary speed limit throughout the Baypark to Bayfair Link project as construction of two new flyovers and improvements to the roundabouts continue.
'AIMS Games competitors and supporters are reminded to use the designated footpaths and crossings through the construction site. Motorists are reminded to please slow down, keep a safe following distance, and stay focused.”
AIMS Games is being held from September 8-13.

Aims Games

Hopefully the council will have the parking around the Mt Sports Stadium finished before the Aims Games starts. It services the whole Blake Park area, and to have the whole area unavailable for the winter sports session, was a total lack of foresight on the part of the council. It should have been done over the summer when there was no demand.
