Reports are coming in of two crashes near the Tauranga Harbour Bridge.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says one vehicle is on its roof.

"It appears that crash is on the harbour bridge.

"There is another crash near Totara Street.

"Emergency services have been called."

Another caller says it looks like police will be closing down the bridge to clear the crash scene.

"Police and fire were seen heading down Hewletts Road towards the bridge. People should avoid the area."
