Tauranga crash: Police appeal for dashcam footage

Police investigating a serious crash involving a 14-year-old girl in Welcome Bay are appealing for information from the public, including dashcam footage from the night.

Emergency services were called to a serious crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Kaitemako Rd at 11.30pm on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Geoff Whiteside said the pedestrian received serious injuries, and was taken to hospital where they remain in a serious condition.

“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash,” Whiteside said in a post on Facebook.

Police believe the incident occurred near an address where a gathering was taking place, and believe it may have been seen by those at the address.

“Bay of Plenty Police would like to hear from these attendees as they may have information that can assist in our investigation.”

Police are also appealing for any CCTV, dashcam, or phone footage captured on Kaitemako Rd around the time of the incident.
