There will be Anzac Day memorial and remembrance services held across the Western Bay next Sunday, with thousands expected to turn out to honour all those who have served New Zealand in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Te Puke, Katikati, Maketu, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and Pyes Pa will all be holding services, some at dawn and others later in the morning.
Anzac Day is a national day of commemoration observed on April 25 each year. It commemorates those who died serving New Zealand during war while honouring returned and current servicemen and women, past and present.
Everyone is invited to come to one of the many services being held this Anzac Day, Sunday, April 25. Groups who want to march in the parades are asked to assemble by the times given below for each location.

Overview of Anzac Day services across Western Bay
Te Puke's 104th Civic Memorial Service
Service commencing at 10am on Sunday April 25 2021 at the Te Puke War Memorial Hall
Please be seated before the arrival of the parade. There is disabled access to the right of the hall, and wreathes are to be left in the foyer.
The parade is to fall in opposite Te Puke War Memorial Hall, Jellicoe Street at 9.50am, and the Order of Parade will be confirmed by the Parade Marshall.
After the service all will move to the cenotaph. Wreath layers will be called, and after the service the Parade will be assembled and led off.
The public are invited to attend the Citizens RSA Te Puke Clubrooms at Jellicoe Street/Beatty Avenue for light refreshments.

Katikati
5.45am Meet at the Talisman Hotel
6.00am Match to War memorial square - Anzac services commences
7.00am Proceed by cars to Katikati Cemetery, 68/104 Hot Springs Road
7.30am Breakfast at the RSA $12 per head
There will be a road closure, and detour in place from Talisman Pub to the War Memorial Hall.
Maketu
ANZAC dawn march and service will take place in Maketu, at the memorial rock, followed by breakfast which will be held at the Maketu Fire Station.

Park and ride
Bay of Plenty Regional Council is providing a free park and ride service for the Mount Maunganui dawn service from Kawaka Street, behind Blake Park, to Maunganui Road, behind Hopukiore - Mount Drury. Buses depart from 5am to 5.50am and return at the end of the service.
Tauranga Civic Memorial Service
8.45am to 10.30am, Tauranga Memorial Park, Eleventh Avenue

Wreaths
If your organisation or group wishes to lay a wreath during the service, please email eventbookings@tauranga.govt.nz.
Wreath registration closes at 9am on Wednesday, April 21. You may still lay a wreath if you missed the registration; however, the name of the organisation you are representing won't be read out on the day.
Wreaths will be removed from the various locations at dusk on Anzac Day and can be collected from the Tauranga RSA at 1237 Cameron Road, Greerton, on Monday, April 26, between 7am and 12noon, and Tuesday, April 27 from 9am to 5pm. After this time, they will be disposed of.
Park and ride and carparking
Bay of Plenty Regional Council is providing a free park and ride service from Tauranga Boys' College to Memorial Park between 8am and 8.40am, with buses returning immediately after the service. Buses will drop off and pick up from the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre carpark. All park and ride buses are accessible for people with limited mobility.
Carparking is available at the Tauranga Boys' College carpark off Devonport Road (between Thirteenth and Fourteenth Avenues), with marshals on-site to help people make their way to the buses. PAK'n' SAVE on Cameron Road (between Ninth and Tenth Avenues) have made their above-ground carpark available for people attending the service.
The Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre carpark is only available for mobility cardholders.

Mount Maunganui Civic Memorial Service
9.15am – 10.30am at Mount Maunganui Cenotaph, Marine Parade, opposite Hopukiore (Mount Drury).
