2.30pm update: George Wheatley has filmed a truck carrying one of the large bridge beams which is being transported from Te Puke to Omokoroa today on State Highway 2.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that five large bridge beams are being moved by road between Te Puke and Omokoroa.
The beams, which are approximately 35m long, 4.2m high and 3m wide, are for a railway overbridge and are being moved from 33 Station Rd, Te Puke to 129 Omokoroa Rd, Omokoroa.
As the truck leaves Te Puke, pilot vehicles are travelling in front of and behind the trucks transporting the beams to ensure drivers are aware of the large size.
The last beam is expected to arrive at Omokoroa by 4pm.

Large bridge beams are on the move today between Te Puke and Omokoroa.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that five large bridge beams will be moved by road between Te Puke and Omokoroa.
The beams are for a railway overbridge and will be moved from 33 Station Rd, Te Puke to 129 Omokoroa Rd, Omokoroa.
They will travel down the Te Puke Highway before continuing onto State Highway 2 at the Domain Road interchange, through to Omokoroa.
Each beam is approximately 35m long, 4.2m high and 3m wide.
They will be moved approximately 30 minutes to one hour apart, with the first of the beams expected to arrive in Omokoroa around 10am and the last before 4pm.
There will be pilot vehicles travelling in front of and behind the trucks transporting the beams to ensure drivers are aware of the large size.
'Motorists are asked to be patient if they encounter one of the trucks on their journeys,” says an NZTA spokesperson.
'We thanks motorists for their patience.”

Spending up large on railways. Shame they can’t improve the road. Anyone have recent figures on Hamilton to Auckland commuter service. Lot of fanfare when it started but nothing since.

As 33 Station Road is adjacent to the rail lines in Te Puke and the delivery address the railway bridge at Omokoroa, surely movement of the beams in one go by rail, with the crane (which had just recently left) to position it all overnight would save the hassle of road disruptions for many.

Don't forget there's a pandemic going on so shutting down the rail between Auckland and Tauranga can only be kept at a minimum just now. Not only that HEB look at those trucks. HEB has invested heavily in that transport gear. They know how do it safely. I've never worked with with people who are more professional and know how to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Just look at the Huntly Bypass. 10 bridges 16 kilometres in conjunction with Fulton Hogan and they still got it done in less time than those clowns at Bayfair.
