At the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club it will be a family affair as the club celebrates the year's fishing season this afternoon with prizegiving, an evening of watching rugby and plenty of fish and chips.

'The stage is set and we are ready to celebrate with you all the fishing season of 20/21,” says a spokesperson on the club's Facebook page.

'And what a season it was, records have fallen, many to our junior fishos claiming most of the new club and even world records!!! So come on down and support our winners and reminisce on the season it was.”

On May 3, angler Aston Howard Willis caught a 232.8kg broadbill while on board the vessel Brutus with skipper Tony Carpenter. It is pending a junior world record.

The trophy table at Tightlines Café and Restaurant is laden with cups and fishing trophies ahead of this afternoon's prizegiving at 3pm.

The Bledisloe Cup match between the All Blacks and Wallabies will be screened during the evening.
