A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck off the coast of Tonga.
The United States Geological Survey reports that the quake struck about 219km west-northwest of Pangai, and took place about 7.40pm Thursday night - NZ time.
It occurred at a depth of 4.2km.
The town of Pangai is on the remote island of Lifuka, which is northeast of the capital Nuku'alofa.
There are no immediate reports of damage following the quake.
There has been no tsunami warning issued.
Fiji Meteorological Service say they have not received a warning from the Pacific Tsunami Centre in Hawaii.
NZ Civil Defence Emergency Management have also not received an alert on their radar.
