For those who go along to Western Bay parks for a walk or a run, there's nothing more satisfying and pleasant than finding that the park ablution block is clean, tidy, and provides functioning equipment in good order.
Last year during June Western Bay of Plenty District Council refurbished the public toilets in Te Puke's main centre, and this June it's time for the public toilets at a local park.
The toilet block at Fairhaven Park in Te Puke is due for a little TLC says the council.
"Our contractors will start work to refurbish the toilets from Monday June 13, for approximately two weeks, weather dependent," says a Western Bay of Plenty District Council spokesperson.
A portable toilet will be available while the work takes place.
In June 2021, the public toilets on Jellicoe Street, between the Te Puke Library and Service Centre and War Memorial Hall closed for about three weeks while refurbishments took place there.
According to Western Bay of Plenty District Council's Long Term Plan 2012-2022 Recreation and Leisure document, there are 71 public toilets provided by the council across the region along with recreation and leisure facilities designed to meet the diverse needs of the community.
"Fairhaven Park will continue to be open as normal, but there will be limited parking on Boucher Avenue as the team get to work," says a council spokesperson.
"Thanks for your patience as we get this mahi done."
