Have your say on building the future of Cameron Rd

Tell Tauranga City Council what you think by 5pm Sunday, April 2, by virtual room or online survey. Phoo : supplierd.

Do you have an opinion on the future of Cameron Road Stage 2?

There is only one week left to tell Tauranga City Council what you think.

With 15,000 more people expected to live on the Te Papa peninisula over the next 30 years, Council wants to you if people think we should focus on public transport, safe walking and cycling, or on creating more of a sense of place on Cameron Road – or a mixture of all the above?

Check out the proposals in the council's Virtual Room and fill in the online survey to help them plan for the future of Cameron Road from 17th Avenue through to Cheyne Road in Pyes Pā.

"We have been meeting the community at several local spots on the Te Papa peninsula to discuss plans for the next stage of Cameron Road," says a Council spokesperson.

"This project is about planning for the next 30 years. Your feedback now will help shape what is seen and experienced on the corridor in the future."

The proposed focus options are:

  • People and place (like wider footpaths, green spaces, places for people that reflect the diversity and history of the area).
  • Safety and active modes (such as safer crossings and improved cycleways).
  • Public transport (like bus lanes and new bus shelters).

There are benefits and compromises for each focus, such as creating more space for buses, walking or cycling by reducing space for street greening or parking in certain areas.

"We are considering improvements in five key areas along Cameron Road, including Tauranga South, Gate Pā, Gate Pā South, Greerton and Pyes Pā," says a council spokesperson.

"We have also created bespoke options for the area of Greerton Village to recognise that it is an important place of retail and business, as well as a place where people like to meet and socialise.

"Your feedback will help us to develop the preferred option."

The council/dictatorship has already ripped up most of Cameron Road. Why are the asking us now? Looking for a rubber stamp. Greerton is a monumetal screw up and thats going to happen to Cameron Rd. We kust need free movement

Sorry; we’re full

If you can’t afford to buy or rent in Tauranga go somewhere you can. Tauranga residents don’t want high rise infill and more congestion. We’re full already. I heard Taihape is quite nice.

Tried

Well tried to get into survey but didn't work ? The obvious project of why hasn't it been fixed already is the Barkes corner roundabout. Until this dangerous, difficult bottleneck has SH underpass built traffic will continue to take twenty to thirty minutes to travel from Greerton to beyond Barkes corner. Another government and council priority ignored while they pretty up Cameron road and add more impediments to flow. Route k the same when one arrives at Tauriko another traffic jam making route k a nonsense to try and get off or pass through.

A bit LATE

As usual, you have provided a clear succinct statement. "Prettying up" Cameron Road describes it in a nutshell. And it is a forlorn hope that any notice will be taken of public feedback on this project. These Commissioners will do whath they want to do (and what looks good on a CV) , because they can. It is what happens when people are not answerable to the community. Change it at the coming elections.

AHAHAHAHA. Good one.

These Commisioners need to go NOW!

It's appalling that these four unelected officials have so much power over our City. The future of Tauranga Domain, Baypark and the Racecourse and Golf Club are in their hands. It's not right. These Commisioners need to go and so does this Labour Government! Good Riddance to them all!

Survey???

I guess they don't want the survey to produce answers they don't want to hear.Or the incompetents running the survey neglected to show the link, if its there , I never found it
