New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says the party is increasingly confident of returning to Parliament this year.
According to the latest 1News Verian poll, support for the party is now at five per cent, up one point from the previous poll last month, meaning it meets the minimum threshold to enter Parliament should it fail to win an electorate.
National and ACT remain on track to form a government despite the latter losing support, while Labour and the Greens also dropped, and support for Te Pāti Māori is steady.
Peters says voters are worried about the economy, cost of living and had had enough of the current Labour government.
The New Zealand First 2023 campaign pictures Peters on a horse in a cowboy hat. "To govern a country, you need experience - and this is not our first rodeo," he says.
