Just over two weeks out from the election and both major parties are pitching to voters to ease the cost of living.
The question is whether voters will prefer the Labour Party's GST-free fruit and vegetable pledge or the National Party's promise of a tax cut.
Both policies have come under criticism with a number of tax experts panning Labour's plan to cut GST from fruit and vegetables as "populist" with some saying that it would benefit those on higher incomes since they spend more.
While economists analysing National's foreign buyers tax have found it would likely raise $210 million a year - well short of the $740m a year that National expects it to rake in.
National's finance spokesperson Nicola Willis and Labour's finance spokesperson Grant Robertson are set to debate the relative merits of their policies on Morning Report this morning.
