Police can now name the man who died in a crash on State Highway 25, south of Kereta, on January 2. 

"He was 32-year-old Eli Boyd Wallace, from Auckland, says a police spokesperson.

"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones."

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3.25am on Tuesday January 2, after a car reportedly hit a power pole and crashed into the water near Russek Road.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
