A parenting seminar on children and adolescents titled 'Boundaries, technology, parenting' by renowned Professor Ian Lambie is coming up in March.
This two hour seminar is for every parent; and a must-attend for professionals supporting parents or working with young people, say a Life A Plenty Charitable Trust spokesperson.
Ian Lambie is Professor in Clinical Psychology at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland.
His research and teaching focuses on child and adolescent mental health, childhood trauma and youth justice, building on more than 30 years’ experience working with children and adolescents and their families.
Ian was made an Honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Psychological Society for his services to psychology in New Zealand in 2018.
As Science Advisor for the Justice Sector two days a week, Ian works across the Ministry of Justice, Department of Corrections and Police, as well as maintaining links with the broader social sector including Oranga Tamariki and Ministry of Health.
In 2020, Ian was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to clinical psychology and youth justice.
With his wealth of expertise as a practitioner, researcher, supervisor, and governmental advisor, the organisers say Ian will unravel the intricacies of parenting in today's dynamic landscape.
"Discover actionable strategies and understanding around the issues we face for modern parenting, boundaries, attachment, technology, and how our own upbringing can help or hinder our kids' development," Life A Plenty Charitable Trust spokesperson.
"Elevate your parenting with practical tools designed for immediate application in both personal and professional realms."
The organisers say there are infinite ‘best ways’ to parent out there, so let's get back to basics!
"Discover the fundamental keys to effective parenting! Join us as acclaimed speaker Prof. Ian Lambie, drawing from years of in-depth research in clinical psychology and extensive experience working with parents and children, unveils essential insights that cut through the noise of endless parenting advice."
"Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to gain insights from a leading authority in psychology and take a proactive step towards enhancing parenting skills in today's ever-evolving world."
Upon registrating for the two-hour seminar, participants can anticipate three thought-provoking self-reflective questions.
"These will pave the way for an engaging discussion in the second part of the seminar, guiding you or your clients on a transformative journey towards continuous parental growth."
Professor Ian Lambie shared a close friendship with the late visionary Leslie Peter Simmonds, co-founder of Life A Plenty Charitable Trust.
This seminar stands as a tribute to his legacy. Every contribution from this event directly supports Life A Plenty Charitable Trust's mission: offering free therapeutic retreats exclusively for women seeking respite and effective tools for greater wellbeing.
The two-hour seminar is being held from 7 -9pm on March 7, 2024, at LifeZone Church in Tauranga. To register click here: Humanitix. Find out more about Ian here.
