There are reports of injuries following an assault at Otamarakau, between Maketu and Pikowai.

Police say they received a report of an assault on State Highway 2, near Old Coach Road at 5.22pm.

"Looks like two injured," says a police spokesperson. 

Police say they don't have a status yet on how serious the injuries are, or whether there are further people injured.
