Element IMF Cadets skipper Andrew Mascal was right on the money when he predicted his bowlers are the key to victory, in the Versatile Tauranga Williams Cup Final against Eves Realty Greerton on Saturday March 30.
“The key for us will be our bowling attack, who have been brilliant all season. Our bowlers bring a lot of variety and are extremely consistent,” says Andrew in the BOPCA website preview.
Greerton won the toss at the Bay Oval and elected to bat, being quickly in trouble at three down for 13 runs, after ND all-rounder Brett Hampton making a rare appearance for his club, was removed for a duck.
At 46/7, the writing was on the board, with Ben Lind batting at eight top scoring with 18 not out. Greerton were bundled out in the thirty-first over for 74.
Joel Griffith, 6.4 overs, produced three wickets at a remarkable cost of just two runs. Ollie Curtis also grabbed a three wicket bag, with Liam Collett, Cameron Murray and Spencer Wills also getting into the action with the ball.

Bay of Plenty representative batsman Marcel Collett anchored his sides winning performance, with an unbeaten 38 off 55 balls, as Cadets took out a seven wicket win in just the 18th over.
Cadets win is their third successive Williams Cup title and the first three-peat since their five in a row in the 1990s.
Papamoa's upward rise since joining the Baywide ranks just four seasons ago continued when they took out the Versatile Tauranga Williams Cup Plate title-decider at the Alice Johnson Oval.
The home side batted first, and set Craigs Geyser City a solid target, when they posted 209 for the loss of nine wickets. Batting at four, Nikhil Vishwanath continued his recent grand form with his willow weapon, in belting 90 runs.
Ravi Yarwood-Paintal was the best of the Rotorua sides bowling attack grabbing three wickets for 33 runs.
A number of Geyser batsmen got starts, but determined Papamoa bowling removed them in low double figures. Ben Astwood's top score of 22 not out reflected his team’s inability to push on, with Geyser City removed for 152 to hand Papamoa a 57 run victory - and the Williams Cup Plate.
Individual Papamoa bowling honours belonged to Michael Burns who took four for 24 and Keagan Bromilow returning 3/33.
