Fire emergency services are responding to two fires in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager Josh Pennefather says they are responding to vegetation fires in Pyes Pa and Pāpāmoa.
Josh says they received a call to the fire at Joyce Road, Pyes Pa at 4.20pm.
“Two fire trucks and one water tanker are in attendance,” says Josh.
“The fire is 100 metres by 200 metres, involving gorse and pine trees.”
The Greerton and Tauranga fire brigades are in attendance at the Pyes Pa incident.
“At the stage we are working to contain the fire.”
FENZ have also received a call to a vegetation fire in Pāpāmoa at 5.16pm.
Fire brigades from Te Puke and Pāpāmoa are currently responding to the Pāpāmoa fire.
