What's on: Buskers, bands and volleyball

Tauranga welcomes buskers from across the globe for International Buskers Day Out.

‘The Silver Starlets’ from Canada, an acrobatic duo show that use a free-standing trapeze as their stage.

Tauranga city centre will be buzzing with excitement and vibrancy as three international acts from Canada, Taiwan and Italy perform in Masonic Park for International Buskers Day Out.The world-class acts will bring exciting, high-energy performances that will include acrobatics, contortion, and magic to appeal to people of all ages. Alongside the action, there will be free face painting and a free photobooth. Lock in the date and prepare to be ‘wowed’ at this free family day out. Parking is free in the city centre after 5pm on weekdays and free all weekend.

Picnic and Party! - Free Summer Concert

Third Space is excited to present a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, 1 February 2025, perfect for all ages. Bring your blankets or fold-up chairs, pack a picnic dinner, and relax as you enjoy two hours of your favourite hits performed by Tauranga’s premier covers band. This lively evening will take place from 5 to 7pm, set against the stunning backdrop of the newly developed Tauranga Waterfront, The Strand Reserve. It’s the perfect way to unwind and enjoy great music in a beautiful setting.

Start your afternoon with the Tauranga International Buskers Day Out at Masonic Square, running from 11am, where you can experience a vibrant array of street performers and entertainers. Whether you’re coming for the music, the atmosphere, or the entire day of festivities, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

The Strand Tauranga Waterfront



Parking in downtown Tauranga today
Coming to join the downtown fun? You will find plenty of free weekend parking options in the city centre: 

  • The Dive Crescent car park is close-by and you can walk along the shared pathway in the Northern Waterfront Reserve. 
  • There are plenty of car parks in the Spring Street parking building and you can take a five to ten minute walk through the freshly ‘zhuzhed’ Red Square or recently opened Masonic Park.

Mobility parking

Bike parking 
If you are biking in, you can find free bike parking at the Bikebox shelters located on The Strand opposite Hamilton Street and at 1 Devonport Road near Red Square. Each bike shelter provides weather protection for 10 bikes/scooters and are monitored by CCTV cameras.  
 
Toilets 
Public toilets are available on the Waterfront.

Pocket Sized Play - Have a go circus
Join the free "Have a Go Circus" with the team from Circus in a Flash! Try your hand at juggling, balancing, hula hooping, and much more. Have you been to the Lion and Tusk Museum yet? It's open today from 10am - 3pm at Unit 4, 14 Portside Dr, Mount Maunganui.
