A person has died and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Owhata overnight.

The collision occurred about 9:10pm at the corner of Te Ngae Road and Tennyson Drive.

Emergency services responded swiftly, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another individual was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and any available dashcam or CCTV footage from the area at the time.
