Police are investigating a fire that engulfed a Whakatāne house on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the Farnsworth Cres property just after 2pm.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Lauren Sika said four fire trucks and one support vehicle were sent.
All persons in the house were accounted for, Sika said.
The fire was extinguished around 3.39pm.
Photos sent to the Rotorua Daily Post showed flames and smoke pouring from the house as emergency services staff fought the blaze.
A police spokeswoman said today that inquiries into the fire were ongoing.

Be thankful a fire truck even turned up. Fire and Emergency has no plans in place for replacement of fire trucks. Most fire trucks are well passed their use by date and subsequently breakdown , some breakdown daily.
Have a look at the NZPFU- New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union website or Facebook page to see the truth.
