A rather unpleasant place to live

Re: Parking metres outside Tauranga’s 2nd Ave medical clinic (The Weekend Sun Letters page, September 19 edition).

I read with sympathy the plight of the lady who had to use 2nd Ave medical clinic and then got a parking fine on top on paying for healthcare.

What an absolute dingbat answer from the council employee responding to her genuine concern.

When you have a medical problem and there is no room in the clinic carpark, a person isn’t going looking for parking meters.

And even though I am reasonably competent with my smartphone a parking app is not for older people.

No one is going to excuse themselves from medical treatment to top up the meter with cash either; and certainly the patient will not wish to stay at the clinic a moment longer than is necessary.

This kind of response of obey the rules or else is making Tauranga a rather unpleasant place to live.

That Council employee should learn to be kind as he too will be older and maybe need sympathy one day.
