Spooky surprises, interactive entertainment and steam punk are combining for this year’s Treat Trail in Te Puke. The popular Halloween treat trail take place next Friday.
It always draws out some stunning Halloween outfits and this year organisers are suggesting a steam punk theme for those taking part.
Epic Te Puke is behind the trail, and spokeswoman Sally Benning said she is expecting it to once again be a big event for the town.
“There will be a couple of quite cool new things this year.”
Among them, Te Puke Scouts and the people behind the creation of the Experience Te Puke Kiwifruit Capital of the World Heritage Hub, will be opening the Capitol Theatre’s doors for some ghostly goings on.
Greerton Steam Punk aficionado Lindsey Morgan aka Lady Hannah Dashary Buckle will be hanging around Te Puke Memorial Hall which will be decorated and where there will also be a small market.
In all there will be 34 “stops” on the trail – with Te Puke Gymsport having a fundraising sausage sizzle, a photo booth and other attractions at Te Puke Library, balloon animal making with Balloonmania, toys and games provided by Colab and Te Puke Toy Library and two face painters.
Another new attraction this year will be The Titans Tauranga Armoured Combat who compete in full contact, fully-armoured medieval combat sport.

Predator Free Bay of Plenty will be bringing a display featuring nocturnal birds and animals and many of the town centre businesses will be decorated and giving away lollies.
“We’ve definitely got more participants than last year,” said Benning.
There will be QR Codes set up to allow people to vote for their favourite window display with one lucky voter also set to receive a prize.
Bennings said she’s still wanting volunteers to help with the event and can be contacted via the Te Puke Online website or by email at events@epictepuke.co.nz
The treat trail runs from 3pm to 5pm.
Later in the day there are alternatives to trick or treating with a Masquerade Ball at Harvest Church from 6pm-8.15 ($5 entry, tickets from trybooking.com) or a free light party for primary school age children and families at Te Puke Baptist Church from 5.30pm-7.30pm.

having a theme is pointless

the whole point of halloween is its the one time of year where kids and anyone can dress up as whatever they want. having a theme is stupid and defeats the purpose of it. dont expect people to follow the theme cause i wouldn't neither. steam punk is a cool concept and i like it but as a halloween theme?? it just makes no sense.. see if it was an event outside of halloween i'd understand but this is just ridiculous. let the kids dress up as what they would like to.
