One person is dead after a crash in Matamata.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Waharoa Rd East and Pohlen Rd at 4.40pm on Thursday.

“Sadly, one person was located deceased at the scene,” said a police spokesperson.

“The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination and the road is now open.”
