Comvita has hosted a delegation of 40 senior representatives from the Korea Federation of Beekeeping Co-operatives (KFBC).

The visit to the Paengaroa headquarters was part of a special visit celebrating World Mānuka Honey Day.

During the visit, the delegation gained first-hand insights into Comvita’s end-to-end operations, from hive to shelf, and its continued commitment to scientific excellence and product quality.

Comvita’s chief science officer Dr Jackie Evans said the visit was a fitting way to mark World Mānuka Honey Day and strengthen ties between New Zealand and Korea’s beekeeping communities.

“We’re honoured to host our Korean counterparts and share how the unique partnership between nature, science, and people has shaped NZ’s success in Mānuka honey,” she said.

“There’s great value in international collaboration to advance best practice and ensure the long-term health of the global beekeeping industry.”

Comvita is the world’s leading producer and exporter of Mānuka honey.

KFBC is the largest honey producer association in Korea, representing a wide network of local beekeepers.

Their visit was part of a learning tour to explore how NZ had developed a strong global brand for its premium honey products and how the industry maintains high-quality standards.

World Mānuka Honey Day, held annually, celebrates the flowering of the Mānuka tree and marks the beginning of the Mānuka honey harvest in NZ.
