The new Pāpāmoa East Interchange is progressing in its final construction phase.
Work to install bridge barriers and remediate road surfacing on the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road just west of the Kaituna River bridge was scheduled overnight on November 19 and November 20.
To enable this work while keeping drivers and construction crews safe, traffic on SH2 was diverted via the Te Puke Highway between 8pm and 5am each night.
Digital signs on the SH2 Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road provided drivers with advance notice of the work and changes.

The interchange is part of a $90 million project designed to improve connectivity for Pāpāmoa East and unlock future housing and commercial development in the area.
The flyover over the Tauranga Eastern Link is due to fully open by mid-2026, creating faster links between Pāpāmoa East, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Te Puke.
An eastbound off-ramp opened earlier this year under traffic management to provide early benefits for the growing community
The council thanked people for their patience while this important work was underway.
