A person has been assaulted at a Tauranga business this morning.

Police were called to an address on Cameron Rd at 5.20am.

A police spokesperson said an ambulance has been called to check on the person who was attacked.

A member of the public who entered the shop after the assault told SunLive the store owner suffered some serious cuts to his head and was splattered with blood.

He got seven nasty punches after a man entered the shop and started arguing with him.

The shop keeper said he can’t imagine how he managed to get back to his feet after taking the blow to his head.

Police said they have one person in custody.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
