The spirit of diversity and community will take centre stage later this weekend when Ethkick 2025 kicks off at Oceandowns Reserve, Mount Maunganui.
This popular five-a-side football tournament, organised by Multicultural Tauranga in collaboration with the NZ Police, celebrates unity, friendship, and cultural connection through the universal language of sport.
Team registrations are now open and community groups, clubs, and friends are invited to form teams and take part.
To register, email manager@trmc.co.nz.
Organiser and Multicultural Tauranga president Premila D’Mello said a special thank you goes to WaiBOP, whose support has helped make this event possible. Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting community connection and participation through sport.
“Ethkick isn’t only about football,” D’Mello said in a statement to SunLive.
“It’s about the values that bring people together – respect, teamwork, and community spirit.”
She said Ethkick has become more than just a competition; it’s a day where people from all backgrounds come together to share their love of the game, meet new friends, and celebrate Tauranga’s cultural diversity.
With teams representing a wide range of cultures and countries, the event promises a vibrant atmosphere filled with colour, energy, and goodwill.
Spectators were invited to head along, enjoy the matches, and experience a day that truly represents.
