Motorists travelling near Cameron Road are being advised to beware of new traffic signals operating outside Tauranga Hospital.
Tauranga City Council reports the new signals are now active at 18th Avenue and the Tauranga Hospital entrance.
Four-laning works between 17th and 19th Ave are also continuing.
This from Tauranga City Council's weekly traffic report.
- Cameron Road: work on the Greerton bound lanes through the Gate Pa shopping centre between 22nd Ave and Munro St are underway. Most of the work will be carried out at night, but speed restrictions will be in place during the day as well.
- Oropi Road: road widening and kerb construction is underway in front of John's Produce store.
- Cheyne Road and Merlot Drive: work installing a traffic island is underway.
- Greerton Road (north of Cornwall Street): a new pedestrian island is being installed outside the Greerton Healthcare Village.
- Pyes Pa Road: work installing a new mains power cable to the Crematorium starts this week. While the project is underway there will be limited access to the main driveway and the Chapel and Crematorium through Gate 1. Visitors to the Chapel and Cemetery grounds are advised to use Gate 3. The front car park accessed from Pyes Pa road will still be available. Work is expected to be completed by mid-February.
- Streetlight Upgrade: work to replace old columns and lanterns at Longview Drive and surrounding streets will start this week.
- Welcome Bay Road: widening and reconstruction work at Welcome Bay Road between Ranginui Road and the city boundary (near the hot pools) is continuing. Speed restrictions will be in place as required.

at all costs, another Transit NZ debacle, who would have thought, 4 sets of lights over a km, plus 1 uncontrolled pedestrian crossing, and 1 x controlled one, should be a hell of a lot of fun around "schools out" time.
