Answers to whether Tauranga City Council will be able to stick with its intention to limit rates and strike a stormwater levy may be provided at today's council meeting.
Councillors were forced to postpone their council meeting last Wednesday, when sorting city finances to meet a declared intention to limit rates rises to two per cent while adding a proposed 4.7 per cent levy for flood works, proved more difficult than expected.
The council meeting is now being held after today's inaugural Community Development Committee meeting, which starts at 1pm.
The committee meeting is not expected to be a long one, with the first agenda item setting its own terms of reference. Other items are ‘unlocking and enjoying active citizenship' and ‘social sector innovations'.

Yeah right of course it will be a "short" agenda/meeting, the last thing anyone wants to do is have a difficult something to think about ... rates increase way beyond the limit already in place from Councilors OR ... actually look for somewhere to save a few penny's, there are plenty of places for that to happen and some, but will they look, even think about looking.

If the government took over the TGA councils repayment for the state highways K.tollroad this would greatly reduce our debt. What is our local minister in government doing about it.Doe we need Winston Peters to do it as he did with the harbour bridge?
