Both centres will use the funds towards staff salaries.

Tairua-Pauanui Community Board chairperson Bob Renton says once approved the contract will take effect on 1 July 2015.

'We recognise the value these two information centres have in promoting our area to visitors.

'These centres are also hubs for our local communities, providing networking opportunities and support.

Funding will also be subject to a Service Level Agreements being approved along with consultation in the Thames Coromandel upcoming Long Term Plan (2015-2025).

The cost to fund the Information Centres is about $8.45 per Tairua-Pauanui ratepayer.
