Revaluation objections due Dec 24

The Thames Coromandel District council says all locals should now have received their revaluation notices and they have until December 24 to lodge objections.

Anyone can lodge an objection and they do not have to be the ratepayer or owner of a property to object to the value presented in the revaluation.

The TCDC says revaluations show the market for real estate investments has recovered somewhat since the previous revaluation in 2012.

Overall there has been a 1.7 per cent increase in capital value within the district, as well as a 0.2 per cent decrease in land value.

'The district is now worth $14.8 billion, up 1.7 per cent from 2012, [and] prime central business district property attracts investment yield rates of around 7 per cent to 9 per cent.

'Not counting the specialist deer farming operation, the biggest movement in land value has been in the Dairy sector, up 11 per cent in capital value and 12.5 per cent in land value.”

District Valuation Rolls are available at any Thames Coromandel District Council office for inspection.
