The Thames Community Board is recommending the District Council considers consultation on whether or not to add fluoride to the Thames water supply.
During last night's meeting the board expressed its desire to keep up with new information and investigate other avenues for future consultation on fluoridation.
Over the 2012-2013 summer period the board considered submissions and hearings from the community regarding adding fluoride to the water supply.
The board eventually 'voted for the status quo” and made a recommendation to the Thames Coromandel District Council to continue fluoridation.
As a result of separate submissions to council the TCDC agreed to consider the matter as part of the Long Term Plan.
But a recent law change has caused council to restrict Long Term Plan consultation plans to priorities related to budget, rates and debt.
