Arrest made following Police information appeal

Police can confirm an arrest has been made following an incident on Thursday night where a Tauranga road worker was seriously injured.

The road worker was transported to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition following the incident on SH2, near the intersection with Turner Road, about 7pm on Thursday.

A 27-year-old male is due to appear on November 19 in the Tauranga District Court on a charge of wounding with reckless disregard for the safety of others.

Police would like to thank the public for providing the information which led to this arrest.

Earlier, Friday 9pm: Police continue to investigate an incident in which a Tauranga road worker was seriously injured at about 7pm yesterday on SH2, near the intersection with Turner Road.

'We have now spoken to the driver of a white utility vehicle and are confident they are not able to assist with the investigation,” says a Police spokesperson.

'However, as a result of information from the public, we are now following strong lines of inquiry.”

Earlier, Friday 7.15pm: Police investigating an incident in which a Tauranga road worker was injured are appealing for information.

The road worker was transported to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition following the incident on SH2, near the intersection with Turner Road, about 7pm yesterday.

Police believe the driver of a white utility vehicle, may be able to assist with enquiries.

The driver, or anyone else with information, is urged to contact Police on 105, quoting file number 201113/0771.
