The Baywave TECT Aquatic & Leisure Centre has been identified as a location of interest for Covid-19.

People who were there on Friday January 14 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm are being asked by the Ministry of Health to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms for ten days after being exposed.

"If symptoms develop, get a test and stay at home until you get a negative test result," says a Ministry of Health spokesperson.

It's been two days since any Bay of Plenty locations of interest have been added to the locations of interest list, which included two cafes and an op shop in Te Puke, and the Worlds End Bar and Restaurant at Fraser Cove in Tauranga.

Baywave staff posted an update to their Facebook page on Tuesday evening.

"We had a positive Covid-19 case visit Baywave last Friday, January 14. They were here from 3 - 6pm, so anyone who also visited at this time is considered a casual contact. Please monitor for symptoms and if any develop, please get a test and stay at home until results are back," wrote the staff member.

A positive Covid-19 case was also at the Mount Hot Pools on Monday, January 10 from 8.30pm - 10pm. Anyone who visited during this time is considered a Close Contact who should self-isolate and follow guidance provided by the Ministry of Health. High touch areas in this facility are cleaned regularly and a deep clean has been undertaken.

Baywave and the Mount Hot Pools are both run by Bay Venues, and are operating under the Orange traffic light system, which means that all visitors are required to show a vaccine pass and face coverings must be worn except when swimming and exercising.
