State Highway 24 is closed after reports on a serious crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after the two-car crash was reported at 9.45am.

Police said SH24/Tauranga Rd was closed following a crash.

“Initial indications are that there are serious injuries.

“The road is closed near Old Te Aroha Rd. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.”

Drivers were being advised to follow the directions of emergency services and expect significant delays.

Diversions were in place.

For Southbound traffic from SH24 continue onto Te Poi Rd and turn left onto SH29. Reverse for Northbound traffic..
