The leaders of Labour and National have spoken to media ahead of their final televised debate tonight.

The debate will be hosted by TVNZ and begin at 7pm.

While speaking to media in West Auckland, Christopher Luxon was asked about Labour leader Chris Hipkins' accusation that National will be bad for Māori.

Luxon says that Hipkins is just being desperate and trying to see what mud he could make stick.

He says he has been meeting one-on-one with iwi leaders over the last few months and was confident that he can get things done for Māori and non-Māori.

"It's going to be really exciting and a productive partnership."

Earlier, Hipkins had to be safely escorted out of a building just after casting his vote in Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium after a man outside began shouting obscenities about him. It comes after the leader was again taking aim at National and their policies at a press conference.

Green Party co-leader James Shaw was at the same event as Hipkins, speaking to First Union members.

Meanwhile, ACT's David Seymour has driven laps at Hampton Downs and visited businesses in Pukekohe.
